Hotel Le Himalayan was designed more than 25 years ago with a warm Tibetan influence inspired by the everyday life and traditional homes of the Himalayan region. The idea was to create a place that feels peaceful, welcoming and closely connected to the Tibetan culture. The design draws inspiration from the vernacular Tibetan architecture, expressive forms, carved wooden details, natural materials, soft earth tones and colors often seen in Tibetan settlements. In doing so, the design brings together contemporary planning with traditional spatial qualities, modern amenities and structural systems which is integrated within forms, scales and material expressions that feel familiar to the Himalayan context. This allows the architecture to feel current in function yet deeply rooted in local tradition in its character and atmosphere.
